Psalm 77 describes perfectly what it is like when life's landscape is barren and it seems the ground has shifted beneath your feet. It can feel as if God has turned away, left prayers unanswered. But we must not give way to such fears. We must stand in firm faith drawing our strength from remembering. Remembering all the things the Lord accomplished in our lives and even the lives of our ancestors is a posture of faith in the meantime. The Psalmist recalls that wind and waves still remember the voice of the One who calmed them, even as they roar today. When unbelief is working in us, meditate upon the past with gratitude.. and he Lord will listen to our cries. He not stopped delivering goodness, grace even if we do not see it now.
